On January 9, the global action #СкажиПутіну_НІ / #SayNOtoPutin continued. Its goal is to convey to the world leaders the common position of Ukrainians: concessions to the Kremlin are unacceptable. Ukrainians will resist any attempts to resolve the current crisis at Ukrainian borders without considering the interests of Ukrainians.
The geography of the actions is wide, both in Ukraine, where it has already taken place in more than 20 cities, and in the world, from Melbourne to Chicago. Actions also took place in Washington, New York, Edmonton, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Riga and other cities and countries. Representatives of other nations defending themselves against Kremlin aggression are also joining rallies.
The participants of the main rally in Kyiv emphasized the main message of the event: Putin wants to restore the USSR by force, and he must be stopped. #UkrainiansWillResist the occupiers under any circumstances. The fate of Ukraine cannot be decided contrary to the position of Ukrainians. We will not accept conditions that run counter to our interests or the interests of our allies. Ukraine and the West are always #StrongerTogether. The main appeal of #SayNOtoPutin was brought by the participants at the end of the rally on a large canvas to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As it was emphasized during the rally in Kyiv, Putin is acting as an international terrorist and setting an ultimatum to the West – to betray Ukraine, to betray international law and order, to weaken NATO and to create a world where the law of the strong, not the rule of justice, will prevail. Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, Kazakhs, Azerbaijanis, and representatives of other nations came to the rally to say that Putin is an international criminal. Leaders of the free world should not have a dialogue with him as with equal to them. Putin should be prosecuted for his crimes, not sit at the negotiating table with him as a respected leader.
“We came here to urge the leaders of the free world to say ‘no’ to Putin’s ultimatum. We are here to say that Ukrainians will not compromise on our independence and sovereignty. Ukrainians will resist all attempts to compromise our independence,” – the message was sent to the world during the rally.
The event was organized by the Capitulation Resistance Movement and the Free People NGO. Representatives of the Kazakh opposition, Armenian and Azerbaijani diasporas, Belarusian activists and representatives of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, who are pressured from the Kremlin, also joined the action.
